League Rules and Regulations

The entire CMEK family seeks the right balance of competition and sportsmanship. We wanted to convey this important message for the benefit of all of us, especially the kids.

CMEK exists for kids to have fun, find a love for basketball, develop skills, participate in healthy competition and learn sportsmanship.

We try to be fair and cognizant of everyone's skill level and to some degree referee games like that. There are some kids that travel every time they touch the ball. Can you imagine how demoralized they would be if our referee blew the whistle each time? We can make calls on every single possession, but that would halt the flow of the game and the progress of each child.

Conversely for the more skilled players, they need the game called closely so they excel to the next level. Our coaches are not perfect, but we do the best we can.

Game Rules

Basket Height = 8.5 feet for 2nd and 3rd Grade, 10 feet for 4th Grade and up Time = 10 minute quarters with running time. Clock stops last 10 seconds of quarters 1, 2, and 3. Clock stops last minute of the 4th Quarter. Overtime is 1 minute stopped time.

Roster = 7 players per team

Playing Time = Players rotate by number, coaches discretion for the last 3 minutes. Coaches can substitute players based on fouls, poor listening, or poor behavior.

Fouls = Regular = On the 5th foul the opposing team will get 2 free throws, 6 and out Technical = 2 and out

Bonus = players shoot 1 and 1, if there are 2 fouls in the last 10 seconds of each quarter, 4th quarter they shoot 1 and 1 under 2 minutes, and 2 shots after the 3rd foul.

Full court press = Final 30 seconds of 4th quarter only. After second warning of defense in backcourt -results in a technical foul.

Time Outs = 2 per team, 1 additional in Overtime
